Setting Up Wifite, The Easy Mass WEP/WPA WiFi Cracker

Ok, I received a lot of inquiries about setting up wifite in their Linux distribution after I wrote an article about wifite in ROOTCON. Some of them have asked me why the GUI (I guess they have a hard time messing up the command line.lolz) is not appearing after they executed the script. Well then, it’s time to write a tutorial on how to setup and use wifite easier (the script kiddie style):

1. Install xterm, a terminal emulator for the X Windows System. For most Linux distros like Backtrack and Ubuntu it’s already pre-installed but in case you removed it just type:

sudo apt-get install xterm

2. In order to activate the GUI mode, install python-tk (Note make sure python is also installed in your distro. duh!):

sudo apt-get install python-tk

3. Install the aircrack-ng suite:

sudo  apt-get install aircrack-ng

4. Install mac changer:

sudo apt-get install macchanger

5. Download wifite from its offficial release website:

wget http://wifite.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/wifite.py

6. Change the script’s permissions to executable:

chmod +x wifite.py

7. Execute the script:

python wifite.py

or

./wifite.py

After that you should be able to see the GUI =)

And so I leave out all the rest to you… happy cracking !
